GAO- We've got
the Legends, the KINGS of Memphis, Tennessee. Creators of such
hits as SIPPIN ON SYRUP, RIDIN SPINNERS, CHICKEN HEAD, WHO RUN IT...
The list goes on and on. We've got Three 6 Mafia. Welcome to GOING ALL OUT.
Juicy J- Whats Happening, I'm the Juice Man.
DJ Paul- Yeah, Yeah, DJ Paul.
Crunchy Black- Crunchy Black
GAO- First, I wanna thank you for coming to Going All Out.
And I want to say, congratulations on the success of the
Hustle and Flow
soundtrack.
You had alot to do with that soundtrack.
Juicy J- Yeah, we wrote HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP and a song called POP IT.
They say, HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP might be nominated for an oscar.
It
MIGHT, but we'll see.
GAO- Wow, how do you feel about the new popularity of Memphis hip-hop?
The industry now recognizes it, but you already sold over 8 million
records underground.
So how do you feel to finally be accepted?
Juicy J- I think its love, because we've been in the music business for so
long.
So to still be here is a blessing. We get recognition, like we did back in the day.
But its a little bit
bigger with this single
STAY FLY.
GAO- You all made alot of classic underground hip-hop songs.
As far as the
classics go, what were your favorites?
Juicy J- "SIPPIN ON SYRUP" and "CHICKEN HEAD" were favorites of mine.
DJ Paul- "WHO RUN IT" , "SIPPIN ON SYRUP" and of course "STAY FLY"
GAO- What about you Crunchy Black?
Crunchy Black- Man, I was just a fan like you.
Before this Three Six Mafia
thing, It was just Paul and Juicy J,
we were grinding, so I like Damn near all
of em.

Three
6 Mafia and FEARNUN
GAO- I remember, the qroup had Gangsta Boo and
Lord Infamous,
what is their
status with the group?
Juicy J- Lord Infamous is locked down in jail right now, I think
he gets
out on October 18th.
DJ-Paul- Its the 31st on halloween.
Juicy J- Thats right, he gets out on halloween,
which is a cool day to get
out of jail. And Gangsta Boo,
she just wanted to do her own thing. So, she's
off doing her own thing.
GAO- So there's no problems between you?
Juicy J- Its all good, its all love man. We wish her much success.
DJ Paul- Lord is still in the group.
GAO- What about Project Pat?
Juicy J- He just got out of jail. Project Pat has been down with Hypnotized
Minds,
he's gonna drop his album in March or April.
Its called
"CROOK BY THE
BOOK"- Fair Story.
GAO- So he's about to be back down with you.
Juicy J- Oh he's always down, he ain't going no where, he's my brother.
GAO- I didn't know that. What about La Chat?
Juicy J- She wanted to do her own thing, so she's doing it,
and we send her
our blessings so Good Luck to her.
GAO- You have a new album in stores right now?
Juicy J- Right Now.... MOST KNOWN UNKNOWN with the hit single
STAY FLY, go
get that.
GAO- Why did it take so long to work with EightBall
and MJG, another Memphis
group?
Juicy J- When they did their records, they moved out of town.
They lived
in Houston for some years. We just lost contact.
Now they moved back and
they're on their bricks, so it was just that time.
But its always been
love.
GAO- What about Young Buck?
Juicy J- Oh we always knew Young Buck, just like EightBall and MJG its
always been love.
GAO- What about the importance of Hypnotized Minds
and how you've been an independent success. AND you're on a major label SONY.
DJ Paul- From the beginning we had our own label.
It was best to
have our own label, instead of just signing
as an artist because we wanted
to produce.
We've got more than Three Six Mafia, we have Project Pat.
GAO- Lil Wyte?
Juicy J- Yeah, Lil Wyte.
DJ Paul- Yeah, so we have Hypnotized Minds artists free to go anywhere.
Three 6 Mafia is signed to Sony and Hypnotized Minds.
But Hypnotized Minds
has distribution through Warner Bros., Sony, Asylum
and Select Old Hits.
So our artists can go wherever they want to go. So we help them.
GAO- And Hypnotized Minds sold over 8 million records. That says a
hell of alot.
DJ Paul- We did everything and every track ourselves. Its alot of work
man.
Juicy J- Yes Sir. It ain't easy being jeezy.
GAO- I also remember in the beginning, I remember
seeing your music in ECW Wrestling.
There was a video for TEAR DA CLUB UP, with ECW.
I remember getting a vibe
that Three Six Mafia was into wrestling.
DJ Paul- Yeah, we like all sports, of course BOXING and Wrestling.
Back
then I liked ECW, and we did that.
GAO-Did you have a deal with ECW?
DJ Paul- No that was a deal ECW made with Sony. We had a video for that?
Juicy J- Yeah, we had one.
GAO- Yeah, I remember it.
DJ Paul- DAMN, I can't believe you remember that.
I forgot we had a fuckin video for that song with ECW.
I'll have to look that one up. I'll probably
find it on VHS.
GAO- Hey Crunchy Black are you alright over there?
(Crunchy Black is smoking a big, cuban looking cigar)
Crunchy Black- Oh Yeah I'm cool, I'm real cool you see me with this over
here.
I'm sittin back relaxing.
GAO- And what about the new movie?
DJ Paul- THE CLEAN UP MEN, its a comedy we shot in Fresno, California.
Its our first comedy, we shot it with Miguel Nunez,
from Jumanna Man and
some comedians out of the ATL and Florida.
Its straight to DVD.
GAO- Thanks for talking to us and continued success to
you.
Juicy J- YEAH, appreciate that.
